Paris, France – November 11, 2025Paris is set to become the first major European city to introduce real-time carbon tracking for retail transactions, with a pilot programme launching in the historic Le Marais district on 15 November. In partnership with over 30 local boutiques, the initiative will provide shoppers with AI-powered green receipts detailing the carbon footprint of each purchase. City officials say the project aims to empower consumers to make more sustainable choices and support retailers in reducing emissions. “This innovation positions Paris as a leader in climate-conscious commerce,” said Deputy Mayor Camille Lefèvre. Expansion to additional districts is planned for early 2026.
