Paris, France – November 11, 2025Montmartre marked a milestone in sustainable urban living on Tuesday as local leaders and residents inaugurated Paris’s first community-managed solar microgrid. The initiative, launched on 11 November 2025, features over 2,000 rooftop solar panels and advanced battery storage, designed to supply clean electricity to 500 households by spring 2026.
Project coordinator Camille Dubois praised the collective effort, stating, “This microgrid empowers our neighbourhood to produce and manage its own energy.” The scheme, supported by the city council and local cooperatives, aims to reduce carbon emissions and foster energy independence, positioning Montmartre as a model for community-driven innovation in Paris.
